Vocabulary reflects where we live, reflects the times we live in. When certain vocabulary moves from the background to the foreground and becomes daily nomenclature, it’s reflecting the zeitgeist of the times.
Pivot is a word that is now bandied about and has an entirely different connotation. Pivot is used as a business term today for taking a new direction, but Pivot reflects the culture, nothing is secure, one must be in a constant state of readiness and movement.
Trigger– A device that allows one to fire a gun.
Today Trigger is used to describe external stimuli that have one react in a negative way.
Breakdown used to be something bad but now reflects one’s commitment and what qualities-actions that are required to fulfill on those commitments.
We can cite many examples but that is not the point. This is more to demonstrate how the re-interpretation of vocabulary is energetic signatures reflecting the times. Which came first- the vocabulary paved the way for the times, or the times gave birth to the vocabulary?
What we are looking at, what we are Engaged (used to be about a wedding proposal) in are all the multiple camera angles that we have focused on ourselves.
The age of reason has come to an end. Making peace, communing and designing with the intangibles,
the uncertainties, is the order of the day.
