“We are determined by two very distinct properties. Shame and Love. These two qualities are parallel travelers that intersect, and change leads all the time throughout our lives.”
“Surrender is the ability to relinquish your authority for another’s credibility.”
You can try to hold on to an ideal, a lifestyle, a time, but the disruptive vortex of change demands transition and Graceful Transitions are seemingly oxymoronic.
What can look like a graceful transition is just that the times and someone’s skills/sensibilities match up, like somehow they were waiting patiently in the wings for this time to show-up.
It is the attempt to integrate, to learn the language of the times, or at least find a good translator/facilitator to help you navigate.
Different times call for different explorers, sometimes it’s with a wooden boat and sometimes it’s with an artificial world.
Whichever, each explorer heads out into the unknown with the full certainty of uncertainty, with the ideals and the ignorance of what will be wrought. With every great discovery there is Benefit and Destruction.
As a young person, you are a product of the times. As you get older, you sign up for the times. With wisdom, you direct the times.
