It has been and continues to be a truly devastating time in Los Angeles. The news can sometimes be hyperbolic and distorted, but this time the collars and cuffs match. People have lost their homes and so much more and it’s not done. Like most horrific situations, you want some light at the end of the tunnel, in our case some blue sky, but the winds are relentless and don’t have any empathy. The firefighters-the police- the people of Los Angeles are heroic and true acts of courage and generosity being displayed in the face of such destruction; it’s a way we want to sustain going forward.
You have people who should have never been elected in the first place in positions of leadership, but that narrative is for a different time.
Accusations have no place in the face of what’s required, heartbreak and assisting in any way you can is the only thing, there will be time to review what actions are necessary to rebuild and hopefully from a much more thoughtful and prescient context.
The opportunity to redefine LA, truly from a city of entitlement to a city of privilege; from a city where our role models are indulgence and greed, to a city of character and consideration. Truly the opportunity from-out- of- the- ashes, a true re-founding of what a dream means, and this is the city of dreams. It’s our chance to redefine what LA stands for. It will take hard work and care, not people who are hoping their going to hit the lottery.
