MIRACLE: a product of talent, skill, resources, and dedication that all come together in one seminal moment.
The most important part of that description is DEDICATION. You can develop skill, you can find mentors, but it’s the power of routine, the day-in, day-out practice, that makes those skills, talents, and miracles show up. There are countless God-given talents that have been laid to waste due to lack of routine, due to lack of dedication, and just relying on your potential.
There are relevant questions that one might ask. Does my passion develop my skill and productivity, or does my skill drive my passion? There are no black and whites, there are only nuances and many different situations. Some are driven by getting out of a bad situation. Some are nurtured by parents who are driven. Some are isolated; this gives them a way to belong. There’s no clear path, just clear evidence that dedication, discipline, and routine form a winning formula.
Many want to skip over the required steps and just be the benefactor of a result. That’s like building a house starting with buying furniture. There are many deterrents that can have people lose the plot, lose focus, and lose direction. Understanding what your susceptibilities are is the beginning of taking back some control. For some, boredom, or determining that something is boring, becomes a sign that you should stop. Comparisons of other successes can throw some into resignation rather than inspiration. Intervening in whatever elements thwart your forward progress is the key, whether that be bad influences, lack of support, or negative self-talk.
Routine is usually not heralded, and many times it can look quite lonely, and there is no audience for it. It is only when there is a significant event that all that routine translates into something extraordinary.
You must relish the routine and the ordinary to have a shot at the extraordinary.
