MOBILITY: the power of forecasting change and then changing.
Successful transitions are one of the major cornerstones of a successful life. Whether it’s as simple as waking up in the morning and brushing your teeth, transitioning your baby from a crib to a changing table, or relinquishing an opinion to see someone else’s point of view, we are faced with a significant number of transitions daily.
There are the small ones, like I mentioned, but there are also the huge ones: moving to a different country; shifting from college to the workforce; growing from youth into age; transitioning from one gender to another; and going from feeling current to feeling obsolete.
We are faced with the micro, macro, and meta transitions every day, and how we move from one thing to another, from breakdowns and difficulties to letting go of something we love, or how we pass from this world to the next becomes a defining mark on our lives. Some people’s entire life is defined by how they die.
There are many factors that don’t allow us to transition successfully. Fear of the unknown and fear of change. Resistance is the nemesis of a successful transition, metaphorically digging your heels in.
Allowance, acceptance, surrender, and following the natural order of things is the key.
It’s not always easy, and so often it looks illogical and uncertain, but understanding what you’re fighting for rather than what you’re fighting against becomes the divining rod.
