We mostly speak up where we have nothing to say and stay silent where we might have some real impact. We cover our faces in shame and apologize when we are vulnerable, but we are fully animated and puff out our chests when we are enraged.
You would think it would be the other way around.. that we are ashamed of our bullying behavior and open about true feelings. We associate our dysfunctions with our productivity. We discount loss as not a part of life, when it’s the only thing that’s guaranteed.
We dismiss age and wisdom as a resource and listen to youth as some sort of authority. We withdraw when we should be taking risks. We confuse superstitions with intuition. We go along when we should lead. We act like authorities where we have no credibility. We try to apply logic to human behavior.
We create problems, where there is no problem, and we ignore situations where something is really required.
The illogical and contradictory nature of human beings is the wonder of it all.
